RECOMMENDATIONS

The team of coordinators handling the NSMQ team (Augusco) namely Messrs Henry Egyei-Mensah, Isaac Adomako,  Japhet Osiakwan , Albert Parku and Maxell Baidoo have unanimously suggested the following, going forward for effective and excellent performance in the future.

1. Teachers handling the team (coordinators) must be given fore knowledge of past quiz boys who may want to join the team in Accra for approval before moving to the camp.

2. The composition of the APSU Steering committee members should be revised to include at least two teachers of the College who are direct stakeholders of the school for an even representation.

3. Monthly stipends of teachers handling the team should be reviewed and adjusted upward to encourage them to work even harder.

4. Participation of Apsunians in the preparation of students for NSMQ should be regulated and moderated so as to minimize or eliminate any possible, unbearable interference in the management of the team by the team handlers.

5. A mini photocopier and scanner machine should be provided for the team to ease the pressure on the printer.

6. Burglar proof structures should be installed at the quiz room windows and door to protect/secure all the properties/ resources of the team.

7. Installation of solar panel on the science block purposely for the quiz room to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted lighting system for the preparation of the team.

8. The College should prepare very well and participate in the Sci-Tech Fair in the future.

 CONCLCUSION

The National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) and Sci-Tech Fair which  is aimed at promoting the study and application of science & Mathematics at the Senior High level has received a huge national attention in recent times. The program (NSMQ) has therefore been upgraded with lucrative awards and scholarship packages to encourage students, teachers and School authorities to work very hard in the area of science & mathematics education which happens to be the engine of development in this digital age. Subsequently, Prospecting students from the Junior High School and parents alike get influenced by the performance of schools in the NSMQ with regards to the choice of SHS.

The handlers of the team have therefore resolved to work even harder with unity of purpose and oneness to prepare the subsequent year’s batch of contestants effectively to maintain the prevailing status quo as defending champions thereby lifting the name of St. Augustine’s College even higher.
