Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank is devoting a portion of its resources to enhancing COVID 19 processes in primary schools within its catchment region as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.
This is in reaction to an increase in instances, particularly among students.
The bank donated desks to the Pekyi Presbyterian Basic School, which was struggling to follow the social distance rule. The school's students sat in threes on seats meant for two.
In lower primary, four students are occasionally crammed into a single seat.
Despite efforts to follow all norms, social distancing is defeated due to insufficient desks.
Teaching and learning are also significantly impacted, according to Headmistress Kezia Kyere Asante.
“The students are seated in groups of three, with the smaller group in groups of four, although under normal conditions, there should be two students to a desk, which presents a challenge. It has an impact on writing since they don't have enough room for themselves,” she explained.
“We are all aware of the pandemic and its procedures.”
Meanwhile, the Atwima Kwanwoma rural Bank has delivered 80 desks to the school. This is in accordance with its Corporate Social Responsibility's education pillar.
